Our stall at Ilkeston Library today attracted a lot of attention, with displays on the Ilkeston and Heanor Water Board, Heanor Library, and Shipley.
As well as dealing with queries from visitors, we also had a number of old newsletters available, and a collection of photograph albums for people to peruse.
The Heritage Event was organised by the Derbyshire Library Service, to celebrate the 120th anniversary of the opening of the library on 24 August 1904. It was officially opened by Councillor Susan Hobson (Derbyshire County Council Cabinet Support Member for Culture and Tourism); also in attendance was the Mayor of Erewash, Councillor Kate Fennelly, and the Civic Chairman of Derbyshire County Council, Councillor Tony Kemp. And cake was eaten!
Many thanks to all the staff at Ilkeston Library for all their efforts in making this event a resounding success.
