Our latest display at Heanor Library is on pubs which have disappeared – not just closed as a business, but where the building itself has gone. Many of these from the last 20 years, but some of them closed over 100 years ago.

The display covers the whole of the Heanor area, including Langley Mill, Codnor, Loscoe and Shipley. As well as photographs, there are also a few items from breweries which have themselves ceased to exist.

You can call in to view the display whenever the library is open. If the cabinet isn’t lit up, then just ask the staff – they’ll be more than happy to switch the lights on for you. And while you’re at the library, why not have a browse through their local history collection – there are some real gems to be found.
