By joining, you are supporting the society’s efforts to record the past and to share that knowledge with a wider audience.
Membership allows you free entry to our meetings, and organised trips are usually
offered at a reduced price to members compared to non-
And you receive a copy of the Society’s newsletter which is published nine times a year (September to May).
Membership runs from September each year -
Our meetings are held on the second Tuesday each month, and we normally have between 60 and 100 people in the audience (our record is 180!)
The format is usually for a short address from the chairman, followed by a presentation
(normally illustrated) on a local history topic -
There is always a display of old newsletters available, and often displays of other items.
We pride ourselves on having the lowest membership fees of any local history society
in the area -
You can join at any meeting of the Society (see the Programme for details).
For those who live away from the area, we offer postal membership, and send you the monthly newsletters, either as they come out, or in two batches a year. Unfortunately, the cost of postal membership is predominantly determined by postal costs. Or you can be sent the newsletter by email as it is published.
Overseas Postal Membership
For postal membership, subscriptions should be sent to the Treasurer (details available if you contact us) along with a cheque (drawn on a British bank), or you can use Paypal (below).
